(Parthenia speaks with a student, Isabella, about her experience with the Living Wisdom School that allows creativity. Then, Parthenia speaks with the founder of the school about his inspiration. He mentions that he was not satisfied with his own schooling and that Yogananda and Autobiography of a Yogi were his inspiration.)

Parthenia:… I'd like to bring my co-host, Kim Michaels, in on the discussion. He's joining us via Skype. Kim, in terms of us mastering the seven rays, one of them is the ray of will and power, and then, creativity. I'd like to get your thoughts on the type of educational system that they've set up at Ananda Village and it's impact for, let's say, the rest of the world; as we're moving into the Golden Age.

Kim Michaels:Without being an expert on what they've created; I think it's wonderful to see that there are people who are experimenting with this. Because I do feel, just like one of your guests was saying there, that my education wasn't satisfactory in any way. And we need to experiment with new things. And especially, about bringing up the whole person and developing more qualities than just the intellect and the competitiveness. I think that's wonderful. I also want to say that my first spiritual book was Autobiography of a Yogi and I really loved it. And it opened up a whole new world for me and I love Yogananda very much, as a spiritual teacher.

(Parthenia interviews the student, Isabella.)


Parthenia:OK. We're back with more of Divine Love Talk on CRN. I'm your host, Dr. Parthenia Grant. And joining me via Skype is my co-host, Kim Michaels. And we're talking about how you can help your children find happiness, how you can teach happiness to children. … And they are not in touch with their creativity. So, Kim, can I bring you in very quickly –

Kim Michaels:Sure.

Parthenia:– to talk about the importance of creativity. Is that the first ray? Creativity?

Kim Michaels:It really is all of the rays. But the first ray is will and power and the will to express something creative.

Parthenia:And how important do you feel that that is for a spiritual being?

Kim Michaels:I feel it's extremely important. As you said, the lack of life in children's eyes is very much because they are not taught to express their creativity. It's discouraged from a very early age. So, I'm really excited about seeing something like what they're doing in Ananda Village and other places where they're experimenting with more creative forms of education. I think it's wonderful. And it's really needed in the age we are going into, because I do think that the intellect has outlived its time. And that we will not be able to solve the problems of civilization, unless we develop that creativity.

Parthenia:Well, thank you for that.

(Isabella says she does not watch television and tells about her normal day and putting on a carnival with her friends. Then, Michael discusses the other 5 Living Wisdom Schools. He mentions channeling the will.)


Parthenia:... Kim, we cut off the last discussion about will. And I'd like for you to open it up about the ray of will and how important that is. And then, we'll segue into their educational component of channeling the will.

Kim Michaels:It's the first ray, so it is what you start out with. You have to have a will to create. And you have to also have a certain amount of power to even overcome the opposition, or the resistance from the world. Because there is kind of, whatever you want to call it, a force in the world that wants to maintain status quo. It doesn't want something new and creative. And I think you have to have that will power and the drive, in order to overcome that, in order to get anything new started.

(Michael and Brian discuss channeling the will and helping other people. They tell about helping save a turtle. Isabella mentions an upcoming field trip and a book she has written and the sequel.)

Parthenia:And, Kim, I'd like to bring you in. I know that Mother Mary holds the immaculate concept for us and we want to be more like that. And it sounds like that's what these teachers are doing for these kids. They're holding the immaculate concept for their greater, yet to become. So, could you comment on that?

Kim Michaels:Yeah. I think it sounds like a really, really good program. I think it is very important, like you were saying – I can't remember who said it. – that what you expect them to become is what they grow into. And that is holding the immaculate concept, or the vision, that they can do much more than they think they can do. And, as opposed to so much in public school, where their creativity is hammered down and they're not allowed to be expressed at all. And it just goes up into all of these games and struggles against teachers and other students. And it just becomes a struggle, instead of this creative flow.

Parthenia:Yes. And harmony. I think that that was what I saw among the teachers and the students was this harmony and a mutual respect and camaraderie.

Parthenia:... Kim, I'd like for you to make a closing statement.

Kim Michaels:Well, I was struck by listening to all of you that what children really need is a real relationship with adults. And I think that's what they don't get today, because the parents are so busy. There's always other people taking care of the kids. And they don't get it in school. It's too big.
